InfoLight Launches a Revolutionary Scoreboard at the Super Show in Las
Vegas
Edmundston, NB. - InfoLight, manufacturer of custom scoreboards is
launching a new indoor/outdoor portable scoreboard.
"The novelty of this portable scoreboard is the display size, the weight, as
well as the innovative controls," states J. E. Thomas (Tim) Shaw, president and
co-founder of the company.
The scoreboard has unique specifications. It weighs less than 20 pounds yet
the display comprises 9 inch high digits making them easily legible at 400 ft.
It is suitable for indoor or outdoor activities such as hockey, basketball,
soccer and in-line hockey claims Mr. Shaw. The scoreboard may be customized for
sponsor advertising or to reflect the owner's identity.
"The other fascinating feature of this scoreboard is its use of PALM OS
devices to operate it" he states. "In keeping with our basic
principle of making scoreboard operation easy, we've adopted the PALM organizers
to reduce the size of our standard full graphic controls for portability."
Mr. Shaw indicates that the demo software to operate the portable scoreboard
can be downloaded off their website
http://www.nikdesign.com/victoree.html
and programmed into anyone's organizer which uses the PALM OS language.
Registered owners will receive free additional sports upgrades as they become
available, adding to their scoreboard's versatility.
The scoreboard has been named the "VictO'Ree scoreboard" in honor of Willie
O'Ree the first man to break the color barrier in the NHL.
"Mr. O'Ree is a winner. He has overcome major social and physical hurdles to
make it into the NHL, he is a victor in every sense of the word" says Shaw."I
could not think of a better use of the word "victory" than attaching Willie's
name to it. After all, scoreboards are VictO'Ree boards."
Mr. O'Ree, a left winger, lost sight in his right eye during his last year as
a junior and played professional for several years before making the Boston
Bruins team ('58 to '61). When the Bruins discovered it, he was farmed to the
WHL.
Once the secret was out, one of his coaches suggested he play right wing. He
went on to claim the Western Hockey League scoring championship for several
seasons. Mr O'Ree is currently the Director of Youth Development for the NHL
Diversity Task Force and resides in San Diego.
